FEM:
With finite element method ape is able to quickly analyse complex components and structures that are exposed to a various kinds of loads. As a first step a virtual model of the the component to be analysed is generated and the stress situation is simulated on the computer. Predictions about the stress and the strains the material is exposed to are the results from a FEM simulation. ape focues on the simulation of components made of polymers, taking into consideration possible non- linear or anisotropic behaviour of the material itself, the deformation and the climatic exposure. The anisotropic behaviour of composites is an area where ape can offer an extensive expert knowledge. Describing the anisotropic elastical properties of composites demands from the engineer to take into consideration up to nine mechanical values.

Micromec:
Micromec allows to simulate complete three-dimensional material properties for composites. MicroMec makes it possible to determine the material properties of the composite materials that are essential for FEM simulations. . It offers the determination of thermo- elastic properties like Young´s modulus, shear modulus, Poisson´s number and thermal coefficient of expansion as well as the prediction of the heat conductivity. Moreover non-existing, respectively future systems can be simulated by MicroMec through virtual material design.

Lam 2d:
Lam 2d is a special proprietary development softwaretool on MS-Excel basis that allows the simple analysis of composite structures according to the Laminate Theory. Lam-2D is suited for a fast determination of stresses on single laminate layers and early optimisations in assembly, especially during the concept phase.
