Company Profile: NWS Films

The team of New World Spirits possesses already twenty-five years experience in the making of documentary films and promotional materials for both private and public organizations. Company owner Thomas Miklautsch is an accomplished Director/Writer, Camera Operator and Editor. His company has a 25 year business relationship with fellow Austrian company Red Bull, most recently shooting and co-directing the Red Bull Cliff-Diving Tour in 2009 and 2010, and, also, with the biggest Austrian National Park - the Hohe Tauern National Park – providing the opening film for the “Salzburger Festspiele 2011”. Also in 2010 the documentary „Cape Horn“ was produced for the Austrian TV-Channel „Servus-TV“.

In 2012 NWS produced a creative documentary about the „Sustainable Life“ in the Amazon for international film festivals and online platforms, in 2014 the extreme sports film “The Amazon Dive”, starring 11 time´s cliff diving world champion Orlando Duque, for international TV-distribution (with Red Bull Mediahouse), in 2015 NWS co-produced two episodes of the TV-Series „Ultimate Rush“ (Cape Horn and Plunge) with Red Bull Mediahouse. In 2016 we produced the ecological adventure film „Pura Vida“ - Journey down the Amazon in a bicycle powered boat, that shows a swiss adventurer who radically changed his life and crossed the entire Amazon only with a self-made wooden boat. This film is currently presented at many international film festivals. The latest Documentary is called „The Antarctic Dive“ produced in January 2018 in the Antarctica, released in 2019, about a journey of different scientific expeditions researching the topic of global warming.

New World Spirits has further produced several projects for international sports channels as Sport 1, Eurosport, Fox Sports, AXN, ABC News, ORF, Servus TV, Prof 7 Fun, SRF2 and many more... New World Spirits has garnered worldwide acclaim for its documentary film projects which focus on nature/the environment and adventure/sports with an eye to demonstrating cultures and ways of being unbeknownst to most people working and living in industrial, first world societies.
NWS has won a long list of awards for its independent film productions yet also works to produce commercially viable sports events and promotional/marketing materials to meet the needs of established companies such as Tourism Boards, Local Governments, Austrian Associations and many companies as the Red Bull Media House, or Kelag, a local energy supplier.

The future business strategy is based on producing documentaries for cinema, TV and online distribution about cultural topics, mainly based in South America and the Amazon Rainforest. Especially with the help of national- and international funding programs we try to be more independent from local commercial companies in order to realize subjects, that are excluded from such investments. Thus we can focus on the real problems of the protagonists of our films and dig much deeper into the core of the topics of our documentaries. The output will be more controversy and provide a bigger contribution to societies awareness about the current problems of our planet.
